Oversight had the opportunity to attend the Association of Government Accountants (AGA) annual conference again this year. It was held from July 13-16 in Orlando, with CEO Patrick Taylor and Managing Director, Public Sector Aubrey Vaughn representing Oversight. As usual, Oversight presented a booth, which saw a lot of attendance.
“The AGA show was a very successful event for Oversight.” Said Aubrey Vaughn. “The event had a great federal presence and an agenda that was well positioned.”
Sessions of note included, “Shared Services- A New Perspective,” by Marshal Gimpel, Director of the Enterprise Services Center, and Joe Ward, Director of the National Business Center for the Department of the Interior. Vaughn’s favorite session included a forum on improper payments presented by Gale Stone, Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Audit for SSA-OIG.
“We did notice an increase in interest in software as a way to prevent improper payments, more so than we have in the past,” Vaughn continued. “A few folks came to talk with me after the Improper Payments forum. Because of this Oversight engaged in several new client conversations that we hope will lead to many more engagements.”
The best part of any conference is when current clients stop by. “Many of our clients stopped to say hi and to thank us for our good work.” Vaughn said, “All in all, a great conference.”
Oversight team members are currently in Los Angeles attending the GBTA 2014 conference until July 30. Oversight also plans to attend more events this fall. Stay tuned for more information, or follow us on social media to keep in touch.
