As part of our monthly “Company Culture” blog series, we’re publishing interviews with Oversight team members so clients and prospects can get to know us better. Started in 2015 by Oversighter Julia Versaci, this is the eighth interview in our monthly series, and this month we’re interviewing the lady who started it all….Julia Versaci, herself. How exciting!

The fun is in the interview, but also in what comes next. The “rules” of the interview series are that once you’ve been interviewed for the blog, the subject then picks another person in the office they’d like to get to know better to interview. It’s a fun cycle and we enjoy compiling these for you!

This month, it’s Marketing Director Jessica Kirk interviewing Julia, who works as our Solution Development Manager. Jessica shared an interview with us back in January and was excited to finally get the chance to turn the tables and do an interview of her own.

Q (Jessica): How long have you been working for Oversight?

A (Julia): I have been working at Oversight for 4 ½ years.

Q (Jessica): What are some of your duties in your role?

A (Julia): I manage a team of solution developers. My team designs and develops the analytics and dashboards for Oversight’s Insights On Demand offerings.  Also, in order to keep in touch with what customers are asking for, I deliver product demonstrations to prospective customers.

Q (Jessica): How did you get started in this field?

A (Julia): In my previous job I was an application architect, designer, and programmer.

Over the years I got more and more involved with data analysis. I started enjoying working with data even more than programming. So when this position at Oversight became available, I jumped at the chance to get even deeper into data analysis, which I feel is the basis of designing effective data analytics solutions.

Q (Jessica): Do you have any favorite stories from your time working at Oversight?

A (Julia): My favorite Oversight story was mentioned in the oversight spotlight article on Chris Ficquette… it was when he cut off the tie of our great and fearless leader, Patrick Taylor, in the kickoff celebration for Oversight’s Insights On Demand products.

Q (Jessica): You actually had the idea for this Oversighter Spotlight series. Where did the idea come from?

A (Julia): It’s kind of a funny story… While browsing the web, I came across an article interviewing a driver of an Oscar Mayer Weinermobile.

The driver had a varied background and interests. I started thinking about how much fun it would be to learn about the backgrounds and interests of my coworkers…  Who knows, maybe one of them used to drive a Weinermobile?

Q (Jessica): What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?

A (Julia): My husband’s hobby is songwriting and I like to sing, so we work together a lot on music. I am an avid reader. I also enjoy cooking, especially international foods. My current favorite cookbook is Jerusalem by Yotam Ottolenghi, which contains recipes for Middle Eastern foods.

Q (Jessica): Your latest blog post mentioned a favorite book of yours. What are you reading right now?

A (Julia): I’m reading a series of detective books by Louise Penny about a fictional Chief Inspector Gamache. The books are set in Quebec and are very fun light reading.

Q (Jessica): Any summer vacation plans?

A (Julia): My sister recently got engaged to marry a wonderful man, and she is also having a decade birthday in July so I’m taking a week off to spend time with my family to celebrate.

Q (Jessica): What do you like the most about working for Oversight?

A (Julia): Working at Oversight is like being a member of a big family of very intelligent and caring people every day. And, there is always something interesting and challenging going on. It is never ever boring.

Q (Jessica): Any words of wisdom that you want to share with our customers?

A (Julia): We have assembled a team of experts to help companies improve compliance around their business procurement processes.

It’s what we do every day and we are passionate about it. Give our solutions a chance and you will be pleased at how many ways we can make your job easier!
